James Moy serves as Director of Market Intelligence and Growth Strategy at Avalon Growth Capital, where he leads the firm's commercial partnership strategy, business development, deal origination, and market positioning. He is responsible for building and managing the systems, relationships, and outreach initiatives that drive qualified opportunities to the firm, and works closely with the founding team to ensure Avalon's advisory platform reaches the private and family-owned businesses best positioned to benefit from it.

James brings a background that is deliberately different from the typical investment banking profile. Before joining Avalon, he built his experience through a combination of growth strategy roles at tech startups and commercial execution for large blue chip companies developing a sharp instinct for how businesses of various sizes and profiles tell their story, seizing untapped market opportunities, and executing on the fundamental principles that help firms to scale. This perspective aligns to Avalon’s new stage of its growth shaping how the firm engages on everything from market visibility to client engagement.

At Avalon Growth Capital, James oversees the firm's pipeline development and growth across key channels and strategic partnerships, manages external communications and content strategy, and supports the advancement of client relationships. His approach emphasizes speed, precision, and a founder-friendly orientation that reflects the firm's broader identity and values.

Prior to joining Avalon Growth Capital, James held the role of Chief Growth officer at Secured Carbon, where he worked to lead commercial strategy and partner development for an AI-powered IRA tax credit transfer firm operating in a $30B+ annual market of institutional buyers and investors and has also helped to build projects at Google, Uber, and Accenture.

James Holds a bachelor’s in Environmental and Data Sciences from the University of Washington in Seattle and is based in the San Francisco, Bay Area.
