August 4, 2026 - The USDA announces the Powering Affordable Reliable Technology (PART) Program to support affordable energy development by providing partially forgivable loans for renewable energy projects that generate and/or store electricity.
PART, administered through USDA Rural Development's Rural Utilities Service (RUS), offers partially forgivable loans to companies investing in infrastructure that produces electricity from hydro, geothermal, or biomass energy sources. Eligible investments include new or upgraded electric generation and energy storage infrastructure that improves the reliability of renewable energy systems. Funds may also be used for new power lines, microgrids, transformers, and other equipment, as well as upgrades to existing systems that provide electricity for resale within eligible service areas. Individual awards will range from $1 million to $100 million.

Securing PART Program funding will require more than an eligible project. Applicants must present a credible financing structure, compelling financial projections, and clear evidence that the project is ready to execute.
